Capturing a Mother’s Journey: My Daughter’s Maternity Portrait Session

Expecting a baby is one of the most beautiful times in life, and capturing that feeling is something I love doing for my clients. But recently, I got to do something extra special—I photographed my own daughter’s maternity session. This wasn’t just a photo session for me. It was a deeply emotional experience, both as a photographer and as a mother.

For this session, I wanted to make it perfect. We chose two colors for her dresses: baby blue and burnt orange. The baby blue dress was a labor of love. It took two weeks to sew, and I made each pleat by hand—like an origami project. It was a lot of work, but worth it. The soft blue flowed perfectly around her growing belly, giving her an elegant, almost magical look.

The burnt orange dress was just as beautiful. Its warm color looked amazing against her glowing skin. When I saw her in these dresses, I saw not just a beautiful woman but my little girl, now becoming a mother herself.

During the session in my home studio, I captured everything—her gentle smile, the way she touched her belly, her excitement, and even the moments she felt a little uncomfortable. I wanted to keep it real, showing not just the glow but the true feelings of being an expecting mom.

Looking at the photos now, I still can’t believe it—my baby is having a baby. I am so grateful that I got to capture this milestone for her, not just as a photographer but as her mom.

If you’re expecting a baby and want a maternity session that feels personal, beautiful, and real, I would love to help you. Let me create a memory that you will treasure forever. Book your maternity session with me, and together, we’ll capture this magical chapter of your life.
